Rocks in my Shoes

Tonight I completed my taxes for the first time in my life! It feels surprisingly rewarding, expecially the refund part. haha
I have been spending a lot of time at school lately, just trying to make new work and catch up from all the snow days we have....secretly praying for a snow day tomorrow tho...i dont think i have ever had snow during the week of my birthday!
i cannot believe that i am already turning 23! its exciting and good to be at this point in my life, i have been looking forward and really dreaming about this year for a while...
this year brings so many great things...
-graduation
-leaving this dust filled town/city/whatever you want to call it
-starting a new chapter of life in a new place
-being in the same city as my other half, after a almost two years
-no more long distance relationships
-real dates, not video chats
-finally feeling stable, financially, geographically, and emotinally

I am really proud of myself, because in preparation of this all time big even of finishing school, i have learned to financially stabilize myself independently and I have also started a savings nest for myself....something UNHEARD OF about a year ago.
I cannot take all the credit tho, Irby has been the biggest encourager and positive motivational-ist!!!
He is my ROCK! ...the best.

my Teddy bear from valentines day! :) so cute and cuddly

This birthday is also bringing me a few gifts...some still unknown.
but as anticipated! i finally got my Bamboo Tablet from Wacom! its amazing. and after installing illustratior I am working on it every chance i get, its so fun and doesnt feel like work.
::new designs soon to come to the blog! :o)::

I also spent some money towards myself with teeth whitening and tanning for my senior portraits...ugh not looking forward to these... but its necessary i suppose.

with all that said, there are only 81 days left till graduation! and i am counting down every one of them.

Today was another awesome day! yesterday it got up to 68! i LOVED it! its soo pretty and today i read, ate lunch, and napped outside in the sun! AWESOME!...

i located the first signs of spring, lets hope jack frost doesnt kill them this week.

I also got around today to finally spending sometime making art today!

Puppy Dog Tails & Glazes

Whew....long Monday has finally past. I am so worn out and ready for sleep even though it is only 10pm. Exciting day....loaded the kiln for the first of the semester!! potters! start you engines....low res pic, but awesome vase.

Also, i totally forgot to mention the book i picked up a few weeks ago. Its by one of my favorite authors Elizabeth Gilbert she wrote Eat, Pray, Love and now this book is a follow up to her life with the love she met at the end of that one. Its really interesting so far. Its about her being rushed into marriage again after she solemnly swore to never enter marriage again after her first divorce. So in attempt to come to mends with the vow of marriage, Elizabeth explores every aspect of the subject. Im am even more interested to find out that the book has a lot of history, factual, and real research intertwined with her thoughts and experiences. In my own path to exploring the next level in my relationship, it is such a good book to really get my head on straight about the subject, its meaning, and its origin.
so far, im in love with it! but i didnt expect much less because in my opinion Eat, Pray, Love is an amazing book and one of my favorites even today.

Im am also excitedly awaiting the package from apple with my NEW! Wacom Bamboo Touch and Pen!! im so thrilled i can finally be able to draw and write acceptably and not with a mouse (ex.#1 my header, although it might have a urban outfitters/anthropology look, but it could be better i admit.)! It will be soo nice to record my own personal hand writing and sketches! Ive been putting off purchasing one because they are kinda pricey, but i gave in because, well, it will make my life and work soo much simpler and save me tons of work hours!

AND, if you missed it on my facebook Blanche totally took the spotlight this weekend when i was photographing her for my custom credit card vvvvvvvvvLOOKvvvvvvvvvvv
shes so cute!

P.S. this dog is also soooooo adorable!!! Brad and I are thinking about adopting a corgi once we get settled in! :-/ we have yet to inform Blanche that she might have to share the bed.

Stacks them up

There is just something about books. They are so beatiful! I could literally stay here for hours surrounded by books.
The stacks are this creepy but quiet place, awesome place to spend down time.....if only I had some.

Diamonds and Cupcakes

So yesterday was my first day of my P90X series....don don donnnnn...scarry, but i am highly motivated to stay with it. I was supposed to start on Tuesday but the gods of heaven struck down my cable and we had no electricity for a couple days.

After the whole mess of trying to get home from Dallas and having a lay over in Houston, then to Lubbock where we were unable to land because of fog. We promptly flew to our emergency airport which just so happened to be DFW....i was kinda relieved thinking i could spend another night with Irby. NO. they wouldnt let us off the plane and DFW would only allow us to refuel and go back! to Houston!....what kind of place is this? were all americans, let us off this horrible plane already! So i ended up staying a night at my parents house, getting up the next morning and waiting in the airport for a new flight.....
note to self : do not fly continental to dallas EVER again!

However, i wasn't exactly ready to get back to Lubbock and start school again. I had such a good time in Lubbock with Irby its always such a hard time to come back.  A lot of new plans were discussed, BIG plans. New jobs, new accounts, new living plans, like a whole new life to begin. It really is excited talking about all these future plans, especially when it is with someone you cannot see your life without. He seriously is my better half.
Anyways we looked at engagement rings as you know, and i think we really come up with one that would be different from the rest, without going so custom it would cost an actual arm. lol
Walking in to the Dallas galleria i thought ok this place would be sooo easy to find , of course, it wasnt. I actually had to call while standing in the Galleria and get turn by turn directions (take in mind i also have never been in the Dallas Galleria, shocking i know.)
First thing i hear is this European/British accent "Diamond Doctor how may i help you"
Very startling, but after the directions she gives me to tower one of the galleria, we enter this office area that was like those buildings where every office door is a different business. But our door it doesnt have a handle..just a note saying "press the green button" haha all matrix and like....it gets better.
Press the green button and the same European woman asks how may she help us, nervously i explain that we are there to look at engagement rings, and she says she will buzz us in. Now, think of MIB when Will Smith goes to the agency for the first time and its all weird and modern inside and hes not quite sure where he is. So then we find us standing in the tiny room with two chairs, a table with a phone on it, and a old lady working behind a glass door intently on some jewelry. We stood there for a couple minutes and i decide to sit, and the phone rings with the same lady speaking afterwords saying shell buzz us in the second door. Now were in a tiny hallway and going through our third buzzed door. Thinking i will be greeted by this European woman, but instead by huge counters full of diamonds and jewelry, and then out comes a guy, again with the European accent.
By now i am feeling very much like a part of the FBI or CIA but this guy lets me try on a million rings over and over again until i find exactly what i really want.
The final band i decide on is their contemporary white gold v shaped band

And originally i had thought i would pick out a pear shaped center stone, for its originality and vintage appeal, but when i tried on ever center stone with this band the Marque diamond just fit so beautifully. It was still a vintage shape and echoed the v shapes in the band, it was soo pretty. Marque is also the same stone cut my mom has in her ring.

i think it is gorgeous, so well will have to see how everything pans out.
We also met a man who owned a antique shop in the historic Denton square who knows a friend who owns a few lofts. We are going to try to look into those because it would be a really nice place for us to live and have a place of our own. IM SO EXCITED! : ))
Dallas trip could not be complete without a Sprinkles trip!
Milk, cupcakes, and my man make me soo happy!

Yes,
What a wonderful image of me sitting in a continential express plane at 12:30 am. Simply wonderful.
Flying from DFW to Houston and then to Lubbock was enough of a hassel, but then the planets unaligned and chaos began. Finally on my last leg of the trip we circle Lubbock unable to land and not enough gass to stay in the air, this is where I panicked. Not enough gas to land in Lubbock, but enough to fly to Dfw?!?!? Absurd. But after another long and intense 45 min flight, I found myself back where I started my trip, in the DFW. Only that DFW would not let us off the plane, but only stop the get fuel and head back to Houston. Are you kidding me!?!? Let me off this plane already!! So we sit. We sit for what seemed like an hour, for fuel and patience, with hope they wld just let us off.
No luck of course. Back to Houston.
Arriving grumpy in Houston at 1:30 am, luckily I have family there and was able to spend time at home, just to wake up and do it all over again today.
Needless to say I am not a happy camper.
