Austin.SanAntonio.Houston.Rockport.Corpus.Houston.Lubbock

Whew!
Spring break was not really a break at all....besides the free will and what. We were running around all day everyday, I am still recovering.
First we went down to Austin for some exhibits and some vacation time, spending a day at the River Walk in San Antonio. I finally got to see the first photograph at the Harry Ransom Center on UTs campus, it was amazing!
I love Austin so much I want to live there, it just makes me so relaxed and there is so much to do.

So then it was off to Houston for FotoFest and some time with my family and friends. We went to a ton of galleries, Irbys show in Rockport, Corpus, and then more galleries...I havent been to so many galleries in one day.

Towards the end of the week I got sooo sick though from Cheesecake Factory of all places! Ive never have had food poisoning before but it was HORRIBLE! my stomach is still sensitive

BUT i got my favorite food of all time! DEL PUEBLO!! mmm I miss it so much!
Sunday we finally made it back home after a good 9 1/2 hours driving back across Texas.

Up and Running!

Hey guys! im super excited! i finally got a website up and semi running....everything is on there except all my work...probably going to take a few days to get all that together because its not all digital and archived. But! i am really surprised that I got a website up in one day. I sat down this morning and was determined to have something decent up by today...so there it is... JessicaRiveraStudio.com

Name is eh but there is already a JessicaRivera.com...which is apparently some famous saprano singer upstate and I didnt want photography because I wanted to be able to showcase all of my artwork if I like
so "studio" it is.
I got around paying billions of dollars for tools and stuff, so its pretty basic, but its all i need.
Finally, a place...soon to be place I can fwd people to instead of trying to describe what i do. It should be nice.
ON THE OTHER HAND....spring break road trip is a little more than 12 hours away, and i am sooo ready. Oh am i going to slack/procrastinate/be lazy with the best of them!!!

The first leg of the trip is a six hour drive from here to Austin, Tx
We will stay in Austin through the weekend and Monday we will drive to my parents house in Houston/Cypress. We plan on attending a show my boyfriend got into and some other people in Rockport, Tx and hopefully stay overnight. Maybe go down to Corpus Cristi and see the bay. Back up to Houston till the following weekend (March20th) and then Saturday or Sunday head back to good ole west Texas Lubbock....this part im dreading....not only am I going back to a town I loathe, but it is also the longest leg of the trip....eight hours....and hopefully the LAST TIME I ever have to drive this trip again!!!
I had planned on packing in the morning after my 10 am class, but i am wide awake due to a sugar indulge of Chai Latte from Sugar browns :) mmmm so good....so ill probably get started tonight...and over pack as usual i am sure..but hey. i will be fashionably ready for any situation!

Tik Tok

Womp womp womp....sitting in photo class learning dream weaver and making a site...a NEW site...a site I can actually maintain. I personally appreciate the dream weaver, havent really run into technical problems.....yet. I would also appreciate $400 to come along that I could spare on this new software.
We could always dip into funds..but that would mean I would be taking away from my new camera hardware savings..not gonnna happen!
oh Nikon...I am soo close to you!

but the new site will be good i can finally place all my work my resume and bio in one place, and finally everyone can access what i have been doing for five years out here in the desert of west Texas. yay!!!

The past two weeks have been crawling by like a snail!

I am so ready to get out of LUBBOCK!
I realized that this will be my final roadtrip in my undergraduate profession! :(
It will be a fun one. and I dont think I will mind being done with my undergraduate degree. I do plan on going to Graduate school. when. and where, is what is in questioning.
Definately atleast waiting one year and where Irby ends up getting a job depends on when and where I end up going.
I dont have an OFFICIAL plan, but i am ok with that.
Ive had the same struggle that I think evey graduate has had...that road that forks and everyone is asking ....that dreadful question..."what are you going to do?"
my answer for that is I DONT KNOW! I definately do not know what i will acomplish next, not because i am not inspired or i dont have options or i am lazy, but just because there are so many things that i want to do im not going to put them in a timeline, or say yes i will do this to some and no to others...so simply, the plan is to start, to just take a step.
First thing is first.
Get Out of Lubbock

which i have to say i am proud of myself in the savings i have put away towards that goal. I have never...let me repeat that, NEVER saved for anything in my life. an if i do say so myself i have a nice little nest egg going on which will make me getting out of Lubbock and making a home somewhere else pretty easy.

Like i said, im ready. Ready for whatever might come next. Whether that be more classes, a decent paying job, or anything else life has ready to throw my way. Im only 23 and I have a ton of years to decide what I am going to do for the rest of my life....Plus that is a really big decision right? wouldnt i want to take a long time to decide...
